After treating the whole tub with Caprotech RX5 anti rust and scotching the whole tube with 3M Scotch-Brite pads, it was time to lay some seam sealer on the tub. Not the Toyota way but the right way.
The Toyota way was obviously the reason why I had to restore this LandCruiser FJ40.
I used 3M 50993 wet on wet seam sealer. It's developed for the Automotive Aftermarket. It's a hybrid sealer. If you just need an extruded seam but also need wet on wet paintability, this is the product for you. 3M’s hybrid caulkable sealer offers productivity gains and a variety of colours if required (black, white and grey). Like the multi-purpose product, this range can be painted over almost immediately, but may need to be abraded lightly with 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ if left for more than 24 hours.
